Alberto Ginastera, one of the leading Latin American composers of the 20th century composed this fascinating set of three dances in 1937. Danza Del Viejo Boyero (Dance of the Old Herdsman) has the left hand playing only black notes, while the right only plays white notes, Danza De la Moza donosa (Dance of the Beautiful Maiden) is a gentle dance in 6/8 time, and Danza Del Gaucho Matrero (Dance of the Arrogant Cowboy) concludes the set in dramatic fashion with playing instructions such as furiosamente (furiously), violente (violent), mordento (biting), and salvaggio (wild).
