Engadine Music Education Centre holds an annual BandCamp at The Tops Conference Centre where BandTime music students develop their playing and music reading skills while experiencing performance in a mass ensemble.

BandCamp is a school excursion, with accompanying teachers, for Years 5 and 6 students who have completed Training Band. Undertaken in a friendly, social environment, our camp builds student confidence by extending their musical experience in a focussed yet enjoyable way.

Held over 2 days and 1 night, this exciting musical event includes many social activities, culminating in a showcase concert for family and friends.

Who is the camp for?

The majority of students invited are in years 5 and 6 who have completed Training Band, although there are some year 4 students who are in the performing band that are invited to attend.

What happens at BandCamp?

Students learn 4 - 6 new pieces to teach different aspects of playing, in intensive tutorials to prepare for the camp concert finale. The participate in a recreational activity supervised by an accredited instructor, have fun, meet new friends, and like-minded young musicians.

    Who are the tutors?

    Our tutors are qualified instrumentalists, many of them tutor in our BandTime program. They take sectional groups and assist students to develop their playing skills.
    The camp's Musical Director selects the repertoire to be distributed to each school and makes the musical decisions regarding the timetable and concert.

    What is the school's role?

    BandCamp is a school excursion approved by the school Principal. A teacher (usually the band liaison) attends with each band, supervises camp activities and provides duty of care. The school will collect activity permission notes and medical/dietary forms.

    How is payment made?

    BandCamp fees are set to cover tuition costs, music, activities. food and accommodation. They are collected through Engadine Music with options for a payment plan available.

    Student preparations for the camp start towards the end of term 1, an email invitation is sent out to all performing band students of participating schools. This allows parents to pay the deposit (to secure the student's spot) by the end of those school holidays and pay the balance by the end of July. We recommend getting in fast as our camp has been know to fill up quite quickly!
