Yamaha Electronic Acoustic Drum Module is a proprietary solution that enables the recording of an entire drum kit simply by attaching a sensor unit to the bass drum hoop, allowing drummers to monitor their sound through a PA system or headphones and enhance it with effects such as reverb. Building on this concept, the EAD20 features a newly developed sensor unit for capturing natural, high-quality drum sound, making it easier than ever for drummers to enjoy the full character of their acoustic drums. Its simple setup supports a variety of use cases, expanding the ways to enjoy drumming from practice and recording to video production and streaming. In addition, it supports hybrid performances by incorporating electronic drum pads and triggers into the drum kit, enabling versatile sound creation and greater freedom of expression.

1. Simple setup and natural, high-quality sound capture with the newly developed sensor unit

The newly developed sensor unit captures the entire drum kit with natural, high-quality sound. Compared with conventional drum miking that requires many microphones and cables, it uses a simple setup in which a sensor unit is attached to the bass drum hoop, making it significantly easier. Setup time is significantly reduced, allowing drummers to focus more on their performance in a wide range of situations such as practicing, recording and live performances.

2. Seamless support for recording, video production and streaming

The well-balanced sound can be used as is for recording and video production. By linking with the “Rec’n’Share” app, users can create high-quality performance videos on their smart devices. Everything from shooting video to editing and sharing can be completed smoothly. Furthermore, the USB audio interface function supports full-scale multitrack recording, DAW integration, and streaming, expanding the ways drummers can share and enjoy their performances.

3. Full sound customization and hybrid performances that expand the drummer’s range of expression

Drummers can control performance tone and effects in real time, allowing them to enjoy more diverse performance expression. By incorporating electronic drum pads or triggers into the drum kit, drummers can also enjoy hybrid performances combining acoustic and electronic drums. In addition, trigger sensitivity can be automatically set simply by striking the drums, while the auto setup feature optimizes microphone levels, and the intuitive interface of the “EAD Touch” app makes sound customization easy.
