Cover Drive is a combination of the 12/8 shuffle and the Afro-Cuban 12/8 groove. The drum and percussion parts are a suggestion of how to reflect this, but player interpretation is encouraged. As long it has lots of energy and is as together as possible. Everybody in the band needs to lock into groove to make the chart really pop, and catch any accents to bring out the syncopations in the melody.
