The origin of Ashiko drums can be traced back to West Africa and the Yoruba tribe. The Ashiko is a close relative to the djembe and its sound is complementary to the djembe when played together in drum circles or ensembles. The long tapered cylinder of the Ashiko produces lower bass notes than djembes, with rich mid-tones.
Carved from a solid Mahogany log, the Pearl Solid Ashiko is 12" diameter, 22" tall, and features a goat skin head, with 14 EZ Twist Rope Tuners that allowing you to raise the drum's pitch quickly.
Available in Hand-Carved or Hand-Painted models.
