Sail By The Stars - Concert Band Chart Grade 2.5 b Tim Ferrier

This Concert March, commissioned for 'Music Fest Queensland 2023,' takes inspiration from early twentieth century British composers like Vaughan Williams and Holst. It evokes the sense of travellers in the past, relying on the stars for navigation.

Specifically, the constellation 'Crux' (Southern Cross) and the stars 'The Pointers' (Alpha and Beta Centauri) in the Southern hemisphere can guide one to the south.  Simply imagine a perpendicular line from the centre of the pointers intersecting with a line from the longer part of the cross, and then another line down to the horizon to find south.

Both the High School C Grade and Middle School sections can use this piece as a set piece.
