Lesson Book & CD: Premier Piano Course Level 6 lets students develop their rhythm skills using mixed meter. A special focus is a stylistic introduction to the Romantic and Contemporary masterworks, as well as popular music. Additional pieces range from lyrical ballads and jazz styles to arrangements of familiar classic and folk themes. New concepts introduced include diminished triads, the ii-V7-I chord progression, and additional scales and keys. Each piece on the CD was recorded at a performance tempo and a slower practice tempo.

Theory Book: The activities in Theory Book 6 continue to develop the theoretical knowledge begun in previous levels of the course. A balanced mix of necessary drills with activities that stimulate creativity, including harmonization and composition, makes theory motivating and fun for students. Written theory is interspersed with activities that foster sight-reading and ear-training skills, while intriguing comments on music history and style reinforce the theoretical principles.

Technique: Technique 6 continues and expands on the technical and artistic tools learned in Technique books 1A--5. Four new Technique Tools clearly present technical goals through appealing and descriptive exercises. Artistic Etudes showcase a students technique in an expressive musical setting and Masterwork Etudes provide training to play standard masterworks. Each page in the Technique book correlates with a specific page in the Lesson book.

Masterworks: Premier Piano Course Masterworks Book 6 includes standard repertoire from the four stylistic periods to reinforce concepts introduced in Lesson Book 6. Except for "Jazzy Trumpets," the pieces are in their original form and have not been adapted. Dynamics, phrasing, fingering, and pedal are editorial in some selections. The editors have also added titles to untitled pieces. Performance skills and musical understanding are enhanced through Premier Performer suggestions. Students will enjoy performing these pieces for family and friends in a formal recital or on special occasions.
