By James Rae.
This collection of 20 elementary to moderately difficult studies familiarizes the saxophonist with the various rhythms and phrasings encountered in modern music. Each study deals with a particular aspect of rhythmic playing ranging from jazz, rock and funk to contemporary classics. They are short to maximize the focus on style and interpretation. The studies have been compiled in order of difficulty to enable the player to evaluate his or her progress. Many of these pieces are found on examination syllabuses worldwide and are not only suitable for exams, but also make attractive performance pieces.
