The School Musician March was originally conceived by Dr. Forrest L. McAllister when he was editor, publisher, and owner of the magazine for which the march is named. Composers William H. Beebe and Christopher Paul intended the march to depict students’ journey from beginning band through college. Written in 1952, this march represents the beginning of an era when instrumentation for the concert band was beginning to be modernized. This updated arrangement of the march by Joseph Benjamin Earp expands the original condensed score to full transposed score and clarifies inconsistencies with tempo, articulations, and dynamics throughout. The School Musician March, an amazing work that has been lost through the years, has been revitalized to create an exciting addition to your concert program. (3:53)
